El genio por excelencia de la literatura inglesa vivió en el siglo XVI, pero para algunos expertos su existencia es un tanto cuestionable. De hecho, la autoría de sus obras ha llegado a adjudicársele a otros autores tales como Francis Bacon.
Como filóloga inglesa, he leído y releído la obra de Shakespeare en numerosas ocasiones, de la cual me afirmo como ferviente fan. Desde "Hamlet" hasta " Romeo y Julieta", su éxito ha pervivido a lo largo de generaciones, siendo hoy en día uno de los autores clásicos más llevados a la gran pantalla.
He investigado sobre su historia y esto es lo que he averiguado:
Shakespeare nació en 1564, año en el que sabemos que fue bautizado, y murió 52 años después.
No existe ningún retrato que confirme su aspecto. La imágen con la que hoy lo constatamos se basa en retratos póstumos.
No perteneció a una familia noble ni relacionada con la aristocracia. Tampoco recibió (o eso se dice) formación adecuada que justificase sus conocimientos. Sin embargo, su obra está plagada de detalles que no parecen acordes a su contexto. Esta es una de las justificaciones que se dieron para afirmar su "no existencia".
Se casó con Anne Hathaway, una mujer varios años mayor que él, después de dejarla embarazada.
Se le relacionó con la homosexualidad y la bisexualidad y, en sus últimos años, poco se supo de su porvenir.
En estudios realizados por científicos a las pipas que se llegaron a conservar del autor inglés se encontraron restos de cannabis, hecho que no debería resultar sorprendente, pues fue una época en la que el uso de drogas era frecuente para tratar ciertas dolencias.
Un dato extremadamente curioso sobre su vida fue, precisamente, su muerte. Dejó redactado su epitafio, el cual dice así:
"Buen amigo, por Jesús,
abstente de cavar
el polvo aquí encerrado.
Bendito sea el hombre que respete
estas piedras y maldito el que
remueva mis huesos."
Shakespeare no tuvo nietos, por lo cual su descendencia directa terminó en sus hijos.
Está enterrado en Stratford - Upon - Avon, Inglaterra.

The English Literature's genius lived in the 16th Century, but according to some experts, his existence is not sure. In fact, other authors, such as Francis Bacon, have been related to the authorship of his works.
As an English philologer, I have read the Shakespeare's works many times and I consider myself a great fan of them."Hamlet", "Romeo and Juliet"... his success has survived thorough the History and, today, he is one of the classic authors whose works have become movies more times.
I have researched about his story and this is what I have found out:
Shakespeare was born in 1564. We know that he was baptized that year. He died 52 years later. There is not any portrait that confirms his appearance. The image that we have is based on phostumous portraits.
He did not belong to aristocracy and it is said that he did not receive an appropriate education. However, the knowledge that is reflected in his works does not match with this context. This is one of the explanations that were given in order to justify his "non - existence".
He got married with Anne Hathaway - a woman who was some years older than him - because she was pregnant. He was related to homosexuality and bisexuality. We know very little about his last years.
Some scientifics studied the pipes that Shakespeare used and they found cannabis in them. This is not a surprising fact due to the fact that the use of drugs was something usual in that time. They were used in medicine for the treatment of some illnesses.
A curious date about his life was, precisely, his death.
He wrote his own epitaph, which says the following:
"Good frend for Jesus sake forbeare
to digg the dust encloased heare
Blest be ye man yt spares thes stones and
cusrt be he yt moves my bones".
Shakespeare did not have any grand - children. Therefore, his direct descendants ended with his children.
He is buried in Stratford - Upon - Avon, Engand.
