Al menos, así lo afirma Plutarco, quien también asegura que no era precisamente una mujer atractiva, pero sí ambiciosa e influyente.
Lo cierto es que los retratos que actualmente tenemos de Cleopatra son producto de la imágen que de ella se plasmó muchos años después de su muerte. Ninguno de ellos son contemporáneos de la reina egipcia, por lo cual, al igual que ha pasado con muchos otros personajes históricos, su verdadero rostro es desconocido.
Entre los relatos que han llegado hasta nuestros días, encontramos opiniones variopintas: desde defensores de su gran belleza hasta detractores de la misma. Lo que sí es verdad es que, ya fuese bella o no, sí es probable que, como asegura Plutarco,  fuese rubia. La razón es que no era egipcia, sino de origen macedonio.
Aún así, es difícil imaginar a Cleopatra a día de hoy sin recordar a Elizabeth Taylor, la imagen que de la reina egipcia, Hollywood ha inmortalizado.

What is truth is that the portraits that we have of her today belong to many years after her death. There is not anyone that belongs to her real time. Therefore, as with many other historical characters, her face is unknown.
Between the descriptions of her that have reached our days, we find several opinions: some of them defend her exquisite beauty while others do not. What is undoubtedly truth is that, beautiful or not, as Plutarco claims, it is likely she was blonde due to her origin: she was not Egyptian, but Macedonian.
Anyway, it is difficult to think of Cleopatra without remembering Elizabeth Taylor, the face of the Egyptian queen that Hollywood has inmortalized.
